We would love to welcome some more people to the team that runs and produces the magazine. All jobs are unpaid but are guaranteed to be fun and an excellent way of getting involved in the local community.
Features editor
The “features” are those articles that don’t relate to specific things in the 4 villages. The features editor would take overall responsibility for this part of the magazine. You wouldn’t need to write articles yourself (although you could), but the job is to ensure that the feature articles remain interesting and relevant and find new contributors from time to time (regular or one-off).
Archivists
The magazine has existed since at least 1955 to our knowledge – possibly much longer. There are many old issues at the Keep in Lewes but the archive is incomplete and needs indexing. Some of the missing issues are probably in someone’s loft somewhere. This would be a fascinating job for someone interested in local history.
There is also the possibility of establishing a “digital archive”. Production of the magazine has been digital for some years but the digital records urgently need organizing and indexing before someone wipes their hard drive. The digital archivist could be a separate role from the physical archivist. Some computer knowledge would be useful in this role, but plenty of help would be available.
Web site editor
Would you like to maintain this web site for the magazine – the website that you are reading right now. A few hours a month should do it. It would help if you enjoy working on computers, but specific web editing skills are not needed – we can provide any training to get you going.
